PSI introduced SensorSwabs and Eclipse in 1998, the year that Phase 1 was the first company to introduce a digital-back camera at the NY Photo Show. At the end of the show, Phase 1 committed to including a box of e-WIPES in every camera they sold. Shortly thereafter, at PMA in Feb of 99, Kodak introduced their own digital camera, the DCS-1, for which SensorSwabs and Eclipse were officially approved and recommended, even in the DCS-1 user manual.
We refer to PSI products as the "Grand-daddy" of sensor cleaning. It's impossible to estimate how many sensors have been cleaned with these tools since their inception in 1998, but there is no other company with these credentials and no other swabs and fluids have been endorsed by major camera manufacturers like Kodak and SONY.
NOTE: E2 has been discontinued by Photographic Solutions and many websites and e-merchants are not up-to-date regarding this news. If you are presently using E2 with absolutely no problems at all, continue using it. However, if you are getting less than satisfactory results with E2, discard it immediately and purchase Eclipse which is guaranteed to be safe to use on ALL sensors. Eclipse has been re-formulated to contain one part per million (ppm) of contaminants making it the purest sensor cleaning fluid on the market.
